Candor Engineering needed some major information technology system changes! Our Linux-based network had become unstable and those challenges were beginning to impact our productivity, stability and, most importantly, the confidence in our systems to be the tool we depend on to provide information to our clients when they need it.
Candor specializes in the design of electrical and instrumentation systems primarily for oil and gas installations in Alberta. With the energy sector heating up in Alberta, we needed a computer infrastructure that could handle the rapid growth and expansion of our ascent to the next level in our business.
This is exactly what we received from IT Matters. Their team took the time to sit down with us to understand our exact current position and where we wanted to expand with the future of our business. This is important, because the technology solution that we required had to fit into our business model-- not the other way around.
IT Matters recommended replacing the Linux components of our network with a reliable, robust and secure Microsoft Windows-based network. The Windows Server System provides us with the core framework to build our new information technology infrastructure. Email is very important in our business. We use email as a tool to communicate with our field teams, around the office and with our clients. When email goes down, we are shut down. IT Matters therefore recommended the Microsoft Exchange 2003 Server as a tool for us to communicate more effectively with our clients, as well as to collaborate internally with our office staff and field teams. In our business, the majority of our employees are on the road. With the Microsoft Exchange Server, we communicate effectively and they have all their information with them through Outlook and Outlook Web Access-- no matter what their location.
Security is a big concern for us, especially when it comes to dealing with client information. IT Matters tackled this challenge for us as well. They recommended the SonicWALL Pro 2040 Total Security solution that keeps us free from virus attacks, spyware and other threats in the world today.
The new implementation of Microsoft Project now allows us to track our projects. As we learn to use this tool, we will continue to rely on Chads expertise to guide us. HMA Land Services engaged the services of IT Matters when our IT requirements became more than our supplier at the time could handle. We were experiencing some rapid growth and expansion, and we needed a company that could suggest solutions rather than just react to problems. IT Matters was able to bring forward a plan for our business that would allow us to focus on our core business without worrying about whether or not our network could handle the demands that were being placed upon it.
At HMA, our core competency is the ability to design, implement and manage land programs that support our diverse client needs. Our people are our key resource, and without a network that supports these people, we would not be competitive in the marketplace.
One of the fundamental components of a great supplier like IT Matters, are the relationships that they have developed with their key vendors, like SonicWALL. We were being bombarded with SPAM on our Exchange Server. IT Matters, through their partnership with SonicWALL, invited HMA out to a lunch and learn with Tony Leggio of SonicWALL that allowed us to better understand the advantages of this product in dealing with our email communications challenges.
SPAM issues were rapidly starting to impact our effectiveness as well as wasting our salary budget. It was not only the nuisance of a large amount of unwanted emails coming into our network, the real problem was the impact on the overall productivity of everyone at our company.
IT Matters and SonicWALL recommended the SonicWALL Mail Security 200 SPAM solution to manage this SPAM challenge. Since the implementation of the mail security application, the level of SPAM in our Inboxes has decreased by approximately 90%. All SPAM is tagged as such and routed directly into our Junk E-mail folder, where it can be quickly scanned and then deleted.
Productivity has greatly increased since we no longer have to filter through our inboxes to find good vs bad e-mail. Having IT Matters as our IT resource, combined with the SonicWALL Mail Security System, has been a wise investment for our company.

Selling Systems is in its 11th year of operations and provides real estate consulting and creative marketing solutions to development clients in the areas of single family, multi-family and land development. Our services include real estate research, development consulting, design and advertising and sales execution. Selling Systems runs a mixed network of Windows desktop systems combined with Apple Macintosh systems and the Windows Small Business Server allows us to share files easily across all of our computer systems, email with clients, vendors and within our team and ensure that all of our intellectual property is secured from unauthorized access. With their recommendation of the Microsoft-based solution, we now have the foundation we needed to move ahead with collaboration of business information with our staff and clients through SharePoint services included with the Small Business Server. IT Matters is able to ensure that all of these functions happen as they should and are supported when support is warranted.
IT Matters partnership in the Microsoft Small Business Specialist community is a great asset to our support team, without this community backing them, they may just be another computer support company, but they are NOT! I dont know much about how the SBSC community works but I am sure glad they are part of it. Their depth of resources is fantastic to the support of my business.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to your team for the smooth transition to our new and improved network. Until recently, our network was unreliable and we would lose critical e-mails because of improper configuration and setup on our mail server. This is a critical part of our business and we lost a tremendous amount of confidence overall in our network systems. This was coupled with the fact that our business had just gone through a tremendous amount of growth over the past year, and we had outgrown our original network plan. We decided at this point to switch service providers and after much research and deliberation, hired IT Matters. Your team of specialists came highly recommended.
It was time to upgrade our network, and with the recommendations IT Matters made to enhance our computing environment, HMA decided to move forward. With a project plan in place, your technicians, Aaron and Mario, worked relentlessly and in the space of one weekend we migrated to the new environment with very few problems. By Monday, we were back up and running and to-date are experiencing only typical user issues that were caused by improper setup from our last service provider. It was obvious that a significant amount of planning and organization went into this project, and it was orchestrated with great attention to detail. Due to the carefully coordinated preparations, all our technology problems were migrated with the least amount of impact to our business.
